Window To The West
While living in a motel on Highway 61, I spent three months photographing in the rapidly changing neighborhood of Lincoln Park, which is undergoing a rebranding as the “Lincoln Park Craft District”. I walked the streets daily with a small camera and an instant printer, making portraits with people I met along the way and giving them a print on the spot. The project culminated with a show in the ground-level windows of the old Seaway Hotel building, featuring a selection of my photos and the paintings of Seaway Hotel resident Brad Tollefson. Our work was focused on the people and places on the margins of the neighborhood’s transformation and their worries about affordability, displacement, and change. You can see many of the portraits on my instagram.
